Abstract

Background: High-risk pregnancy is a condition that deviates from normal pregnancy and can threaten the health and life of both mother and baby. Indonesia still has a high maternal mortality rate, largely caused by bleeding, hypertension during pregnancy, and infections. Psychological impacts such as anxiety and low self-efficacy in pregnant women with high-risk pregnancies worsen maternal health outcomes. Husband’s support has been shown to play a crucial role in improving self-efficacy among high-risk pregnant women.

Purpose: This community service aimed to provide education for high-risk pregnant women and their husbands regarding the importance of husband’s support to improve maternal self-efficacy during pregnancy.

Method: The activity was conducted in Menduran Village, Brati Community Health Center area, with 10 participants (pregnant women and their husbands). The stages included problem identification, planning, team development, and implementation. Education was delivered through lectures using maternal health books, leaflets, and sound systems. A pre-test and post-test with 15 questions were administered to assess knowledge improvement.

Results: Pre-test results showed that 6 participants (60%) had poor knowledge, while only 4 participants (40%) had good knowledge regarding high-risk pregnancy. After the educational intervention, post-test results indicated significant improvement, with 9 participants (90%) demonstrating good knowledge and only 1 participant (10%) remaining in the poor category. Conclusion: Husband’s support plays a significant role in enhancing the self-efficacy of high-risk pregnant women, helping them adapt both physically and psychologically during pregnancy. Family involvement, particularly from the husband, is crucial in building maternal confidence and ensuring safe pregnancy outcomes.
